Meditation Advice, Guidance and Tips - Information and Instructions

Meditation
Meditation is more than a method for relaxing the body, as some people think. It is a way for gaining freedom from incessant, nagging thoughts and worries, quieting the chatter of the mind, and attaining inner peace and happiness. In its higher levels, it leads to spiritual awakening and enlightenment.
Meditation plays an important role in various religions and spiritual traditions, and has always been practiced everywhere, from ancient times until the present day. There have always been people, who had the desire to go within, beyond the mind, and to discover who and what they are, and attain a higher spiritual consciousness.

There are many forms, techniques and traditions, which are practiced and followed for various reasons and aims, for relaxation and health, for mental mastery and inner peace, and of course for attaining spiritual awakening - enlightenment, and for discovering who you really are.

Meditation calms down the body and the mind, reduces stress and anxiety, normalizes the blood pressure and has a healing effect on the body. It improves the power of concentration, sharpens the mind and strengthens the intuition. Its constant practice reduces the number of restless thoughts in the mind and brings inner peace, happiness and bliss.

In order to obtain results it has to be practiced every day, at least once a day, twice a day is better. A beginner may start with only 10 minutes and gradually increase the time.

Essentially, there are two forms of meditation. One that requires focusing the mind on a certain activity, such as on the breathing process, or on a concrete object, mental image, a word, thought or a quality of character. The other form requires that you do not focus on anything, in particular, but to empty the mind of thoughts, and merge into the inner silence within you, into your Real, Inner Self. This form can only be practiced after one is well trained with the first form.

Below you will find several things you can do to improve your ability to meditate, mitigate the inner resistance of the mind, and improve your chances of success. Read them attentively, and apply them to any technique that you practice.

Tips and advice for meditation:
  1. It is important to meditate every day.
  2. Keep up a positive attitude.
  3. Do not meditate when you are tired.
  4. Meditate in a place where you can be alone and undisturbed.
  5. Sit in a comfortable position with your spine erect. You can sit on the floor, on a cushion or on a chair.
  6. Relax your body.
  7. Take a few slow deep breaths.
  8. To relax even more, for a few moments focus on a pleasant memory, or a mental image of a place that makes you feel calm.
  9. Think for a few moments about the benefits of meditation, how it will strengthen your focus, calm down your mind, ease stress and tension, etc.
  10. Before you start to meditate, tell yourself that all thoughts, ideas and plans will have now to wait until you finish, and that nothing is going to distract your mind.
  11. Start meditating calmly, yet with focused attention. The more focused the attention is, the easier it is to ignore thoughts and other distractions.
  12. Strive to stay calm, both mentally and physically, and do not tense your body.
  13. Patience, perseverance and self discipline should be always cultivated.
  14. 10 minutes of practice are quite enough for a beginner.
  15. Start with a simple technique. Here are two examples:

    a) Focus your attention on your incoming and outgoing breath.
For a few minutes, focus your attention on your breath. Breathe normally, while focusing on the act of breathing in and breathing out. Be careful not to strain your breath and your body.

    b) Focusing on an inspiring quote.
Choose an inspiring quote from any spiritual teacher, and repeat it in your mind, trying to find its deep meaning, beyond the written words.

Inner Child

The Inner Child is a concept used in popular psychology and spiritual healing to denote the childlike aspect of a person’s psyche.

It is often viewed as an independent entity – so that it may be viewed subjectively.
Exploring the concept of your Inner Child can be useful to address the remaining effects of childhood experiences on your adult life. Traumatic events, habits and misconceived ideas from your childhood all stay with you.

Your current behaviors can be drawn from emotional memory and even the experiences stored in the brain below conscious thought.

Working on your Inner Child

Working on your Inner Child, by nurturing and healing any issues can have dramatic effects on your life. It is considered one of the essential stages in the 12-step programs geared for recovery from addiction, abuse, trauma, or post-traumatic stress disorder.

The Inner Child has also been called the ‘Divine Child,’ the ‘Wonder Child,’ the ‘Child Within,’ and some psychotherapists call it the ‘True Self’.

Trevor Good, an Australian Spiritual Practitioner has created a Guided Meditation to meet and spend time with your Inner Child.

Inner Child Guided Meditation

Please click play to listen to a preview of this Guided Meditation.
This is a beautiful and gentle guided meditation where you venture into a magical rainforest and approach an old cottage. You walk onto the veranda and first meet your Higher Self. Your higher self gives reassurance, guidance, support and wisdom. Knowing you are safe and protected gives you the confidence to pass those gifts on to others.

You then meet your Inner Child. You hold them close.
As you give love to the child, you give love to yourself.
While nurturing them, you are nurturing your own true being.
While in a meditative state you spend a few minutes just sitting with your inner child. This time is different for everybody. Some children may cry and just wish to be hugged. Others may ask for clarification on events that once confused them. Others may simply need to play with a light heart and bask in the attention. This part of the meditation is unique to you, and will be exactly what you need.
This Inner Child Guided Meditation allows a special connection and bond to develop between your Higher-Self, Your-Self, and your Inner-Child. Although all are one, spending a few dedicated minutes connecting with these two entities is very important for inner balance and natural joy in your daily activities and attitude – and in the bigger picture, your spiritual growth. With the harmonious energies combined, you will have greater power.
Treat yourself to this magical journey, and connect with all levels of your being.

Seven Chakras and Meditation

Through meditation, the flow of cosmic energy in our body continuously increases, providing energy to these energy centers.

Let’s look at each of the Chakras and their natural qualities:

The 1st Chakra, the Mooladhara Chakra:
It is the base or root chakra of our body. Its qualities are purity, innocence and wisdom.

The 2nd Chakra, the Swadisthan Chakra:
This is the second chakra of our body. It represents creativity. When this chakra gets energy then the person will become very creative, he will become some artist or inventor.

The 3rd Chakra, the Nabhi Chakra:
The third chakra Nabhi is the representation of our financial matters. It gives us peace and enjoyment of materialistic things.

The 4th Chakra, the Heart Chakra:
The fourth chakra is heart chakra. It gives us courage, strength and security. The person whose heart chakra is strong will become very brave and courageous.

The 5th Chakra, the Vishuddhi Chakra:
The fifth chakra is Vishuddhi chakra. This chakra takes care of our voice and sweetness.

The 6th Chakra, the Agnya Chakra:
This is the sixth chakra of our body. Its qualities are forgiveness and calmness.

The 7th Chakra, the Sahasrara Chakra:
The seventh chakra is Sahasrara or Crown Chakra that controls the flow of energy from the source to the body.

These energy of these Chakras are the reflection of all our moods and behaviors. Negative forces always try to weaken these chakras by their negative and dense energy, so cleaning your chakras from time to time is essential for optimal health.

We have five natural elements to clear our chakras. These five elements are Air, Water, Fire, Earth and Ether. By using these natural elements we can clear our chakras.

Pure Spirit needs pure and balanced mind and body. So meditate daily to become a more positive person.

Ten Ways to Grow Your Spirit

1. Embrace Your Talents

Recognize and further develop your intelligence and special gifts. Our talents are signifiers that lead us toward our unique paths. Follow your passion and you will soon discover where you fit in this world. When we squelch innate yearnings we lose our way.

2. Tie Up Loose Ends

Unresolved issues eat away at us emotionally and mentally. Tackle troubling things that need dealt with and put them to rest. In the meanwhile, learn not to allow future problems to be ignored. Our wounds fester when they are not attended to in a timely manner. Realize that buried problems always surface eventually. Dealing with difficulties as they arise rather than hiding from them is the best route.

3. Be Responsible in Your Relationships

Turn away from the "blame game" when it comes to addressing problems in your relationships. Be honest about the things that you have said or done that harmed the relationship. Own up to your own failures. Focus on changing your defeating patterns rather than expecting changes from the other person.

4. Love Sometimes Means Saying Goodbye

Not all relationships are meant to last forever. We sometimes out grow our partners, or our partner goes off in a direction which makes us struggle to stay in step with. Sometimes, the most responsible thing you can do is to offer love and compassion to the person as you release the relationship.

5. Let Go of Useless Attachments

If a thing no longer serves a purpose in your life, it is clutter. Clutter can be a physical thing or a belief that blocks your path. Holding on to things that don't feed you will instead eat up your energy. Free your space and expand your energy by getting rid of unwanted gifts, broken or useless items, self-defeating mental images, etc.

6. Confront Your Inner Demons

Everyone makes mistakes or regrets past decisions. Exposing our frailties and recognizing that we are not perfect frees us from feeling stupid or "less than." Bring light to those things that you are not proud of and realize that through these experiences you have learned great lessons, and have likely become a better person for them. Keeping negative actions hidden can overshadow our spirits with shame or depression. We all deserve to live with joy regardless of our imperfections.

7. Accept Change - Go with the Flow

There is a fine line between caution and fear. We are meant to travel along a spiritual pathway. We are not meant to remain stunted in one place for very long. Yes, change can be scary. But, change is a path of learning, so why not follow it? When we resist change we can actually create chaos. Do you want to undertake a lesson down a path which you've chosen, or have lessons thrown at you down a path that was forced upon you?

8. Accept Delays

There are times when we need to be still. Impatience or frustration will not help any situation. Desired changes sometime take time to unfold. You may feel like you are ready to jump into a new arena... but wait. The situation or person that you are wanting to meet may not be ready for you just yet. It's okay to sit at the bus stop for a few more minutes, the bus will arrive eventually. What's the hurry?

9. Love and Honor Yourself

Are you taking good care of yourself? Your physical body is the vehicle that has been loaned to you to live out your life in and to assist growing your spirit with. Pamper your body, tend to your illnesses, exercise and give it the proper nutrients.

10. Dealing with Death and Illness

Physical life is a gift that comes with a variety of experiences. Suffering and illness are bundled in with that package of experiences. Although our bodies have expiration dates, our spirits don't expire. Choosing to look at illness and death in positive ways rather than negatively will help to give your life here on the planet deeper meaning.

Light a Candle with Intention

Light a Candle with Intention - Lighting a candle for a particular purpose or intention is practiced worldwide from people of all walks of life. Lighting a candle symbolizes bringing light to our wishes or desires. A candle can be lit as a prayer for peace or a request for healing.
People of Christian faith believe that lighting a candle symbolizes the light of Christ. Dr. Usui, the founder of Reiki, was said to have walked through the streets of Tokyo with a lighted lantern in the daylight as a beacon for attracting Reiki students. We light candles on top of our birthday cakes in celebration of each cherished year of our lives.
Lighted candles are reflections of our emotional self and help to illuminate our hearts when we feel burdened. You are invited to reflect on whatever is resonating within you at this the moment and light a candle below. Choose from four candles: affirmation candle, prayer candle, blessing candle, and gratitude candle.

Affirmation

Before you light an affirmation candle sit in silence for a moment. Release any thoughts of negativity from your mind. Allow only positive thoughts to live there. Close your eyes and see the world filled with only happiness and prosperity. Silently make a heartfelt affirmation statement. Open your eyes. Light the candle.

Prayer Request

You may light a prayer candle for yourself, another person, or for a situation. Bow your head in quiet solitude. Direct your prayer to God, Allah, the angels, the universe, your higher self, or to whatever source from where you draw your spiritual strength from. Say a prayer in silence. It helps to repeat this statement before you light the candle: "I ask for this to serve the highest good of all concerned." Release your need to have your prayer answered in a particular way, allowing spirit to find the best light path. Light the candle.

Offer Blessing

We want to help others but do not always know the best way to act. Offering a blessing is a way to enlighten the situation and help you find the right answer. The answer may be that there is nothing for you to do. Some of the toughest life lessons are to learned through our own experience without intervention of others. By offering a blessing you are acknowledging your desire to help. Recognize that that there are blessings in everything, even those most difficult life challenges. Offer your blessing and release it to the universe. Light the candle.

Give Gratitude

Are you able to recognize the good things about your life? When life circumstances are causing you pain or anguish it can be trying to look for that silver lining in the rain cloud. But, it is there. Rejoice in the smallest gestures that bring a smile. It may be a flower blooming at your feet, the sound of a child's laughter, or a lovely card sent to your from a kind friend. Take a moment and quiet your troubled thoughts and change focus to a small goodness. Be grateful. Light the candle.

Meditation

What I Have Learned So Far

Meditation is old and honorable, so why should I
not sit, every morning of my life, on the hillside,
looking into the shining world? Because, properly
attended to, delight, as well as havoc, is suggestion.
Can one be passionate about the just, the
ideal, the sublime, and the holy, and yet commit
to no labor in its cause? I don't think so.

All summations have a beginning, all effect has a
story, all kindness begins with the sown seed.
Thought buds toward radiance. The gospel of
light is the crossroads of— indolence, or action.

Be ignited, or be gone.

― Mary Oliver

~~Meditation~~

I offer you a wonderful opportunity to switch off your phone,
switch off from anything that may be throwing you off balance.
Visualize surrounding yourself in a bubble of
Divine Protective Light
(chose a high vibration like white, gold, purple, or blue)
and say: I surround myself in a Divine protective Light.
Make yourself comfortable, take some slow, deep breaths.
Visualize breathing out all that is worrying you,
and ask the Universe to kindly wrap it all up
in a big bundle and transform it immediately
to pure White Light. Feel a weight lifted from you.
Scroll down to the amazing photograph below.
It came to me first in my own meditation, then was
physically materialized for me, as seen here.

Imagine placing yourself on the darkened road in the foreground.
Then concentrate on the TREE. Go inside it.
Feel yourself growing deep roots connecting with
Mother Earth, just as the tree is.
Experience how good that is,
the healing strength that comes with it.
Then imagine your mind is like the branches.
Lift it up into the Golden Light of
The FIRST RAINBOW.
This represents moving up to your own Higher Consciousness.
Really enjoy feeling the glow of this Golden Light,
Bathing your mind in it. Allow it to
penetrate all of your mind and all of your body.
Then let it begin to fill your aura too.
Stay with this lovely Light feeling.
From there, allow your mind to stretch further,
Reach out to the SECOND DOUBLE PART
of this glorious rainbow.
Now you are contacting the UNIVERSAL CONSCIOUSNESS,
The source of all wisdom and
the home of the Angels.
Enjoy this higher contact. Stay with it, absorb it again.
Now visualize going inside yourself to find
The bright White Divine Light of
which we were all made by our Divine Creator.
When you find it,
Allow yourself to realize how much you are loved.
At this point take time to ask for whatever help and
guidance that might lift you up right now.
Remain in the Light for as long as you wish.
Then see yourself step from the darkened road into
The LIGHT OF THIS TRUTH
Bathe in the rainbow light,
REST AWHILE, YOU ARE HOME.
You can make a decision to stay connected
To all this in your everyday life.
When you decide to open your eyes,
Remember to give thanks for the Light.
Benefits shower on you not only during this meditation,
but in the Light that will continue to pour
into your mind and life in the days that follow.
You are always welcome here.
Return whenever you feel the need to find your way
back again to your Divine Source,
Back Home to the Light.

Bless you.

How can I connect with my Angels?

Question: How can I connect with my Angels?
Answer: Asking an Angel for help is one of our most power spiritual practices. We can ask the Angels for immediate help at any time and in any place. A Jewish proverb says that “Every blade of grass has an Angel bending over it saying. ‘Grow, Grow!” Just as every person has one or more Guiding Angels that help and assist them, every human activity – partnerships, businesses, organizations and relationships - also have one or more Angels that preside over offerings of grace, assistance and blessings for them. Call upon your Angels whenever you are need. Here are some tips that will help you:  Seven Tips For Connecting With Your Angels

1. Ask for help – Angels offer us help 24/7; the more receptive we are, the more help they can give us. If you diminish your receptivity you limit the Angels ability to help you. Create your own invocations, or prayers, that specifically call for the help you need. Realize that when you call upon an Angel, that what really happens is that you open yourself into greater receptivity to their assistance.

2. Realize yourself as fully worthy of Angelic assistance. Angels work with everyone regardless of personal histories and beliefs. Angels are infinite and omnipresent – your request does not diminish them in anyway nor does it affect there ability to be with and help everyone else at the same time. They exist beyond our experience of time and space. The respond to everyone with complete unconditional love.

3. Connect with your inner divine child as you call upon the Angels and ask for help. Your inner divine child is whole, innocent and true - and recognizes Angels as true and trustworthy gifts of Creator. This will help create openness, receptivity, excitement, eagerness and wonder as you prepare to receive the gift your Angels have prepared for you.
Hand everything over to the Angels during your time of invocation and prayer. Every issue, problem, worry and fear as well as every good intention and positive outcome you imagine as the result of your request. Release all expectations of how your request will be answered.

4. Express Appreciation and Gratitude – Find and express genuine appreciation and gratitude for things exactly as they are. If you are struggling with this, ask the Angels to help you to find the love that is present in whatever difficulty you are facing. Have patience with this and let go of any expectation of how the love may be revealed to you.

5. Know that it is done – Every prayer is answered and grace is always given. If you fear that your prayer will not be answered, then ask for help in understanding and seeing more clearly. Trust that you will see the love in every answered prayer. You are known completely and loved unconditionally by the Angels and nothing that will serve you is ever withheld from you.

6. Act quickly on the guidance you receive – accept the opportunity and act upon it immediately. Angelic help is infinite and unlimited – you can not use it up or run out of it. You cannot ask for ‘too much’ and the Angels are joyously happy to give to you without limit. The faster you act, the faster you receive more assistance!

7. Celebrate yourself exactly as you are in the moment. Leave any critical judgments or negative feelings about yourself, your life, or others in the hands of the Angels for healing. Even if it is just for a few moments, let go of everything that is not of love for yourself and everything around you. In this moment of surrender much more can done for you by the Angels than you can accomplish on your own. Thank yourself and the Angles for deepening and the relationship between you.

What Are Angels?

Angels are messengers from God. They can act as the link through which you can communicate between heaven and earth. Their role is to watch over you, protect you, and guide you along your human journey. The word “angel” comes from Greek word angelos, which means “messenger.” Angels are divine celestial beings who have not experienced living in a human body on the earth plane. God gave you the angels so you would never feel alone or abandoned by God. They vibrate in the same loving energy as God, and they are here to serve and help humanity with compassion, grace, joy, playfulness, and peace.

Throughout history, in almost every culture and religion, there have been stories and validations of the angels and their roles as messengers from heaven to earth. Their presence is portrayed in many different forms. In different religious scripture such as the Bible, the Koran, and the Kabbalah, the angels have been described as healers, messengers, and guides. Artists throughout time have been inspired by angels. Their paintings depict angels in various forms — a glowing light and aura surrounding them, human-like beings with glorious wings, some with a halo above their head or a musical instrument in their hands. Their appearance and purpose may vary throughout the world and its history, but their universal influence over mankind is a presence of love, guidance, and a reminder that we are not alone.

One important reminder: You were given two gifts to experience in this lifetime: free will and free choice. Whatever choices you make and however those choices play out, the angels are there to watch over in unconditional love. One important point about this gift of free will is that the angels will not interfere in your life unless you ask them. The only time they will intervene is if there is a life-threatening situation and it's not your time to leave this earth plane. This is called divine intervention, and they will do whatever it takes to save your life. Many have shared their personal experiences of divine intervention when they were miraculously saved from a life-threatening situation. So the most important thing to remember when working with these divine celestial beings is to ask for help and guidance when you need it. This opens the doors to invite miracles into your life and to receive clear communication from God and the angels.
